August 12-14, 2016
The Sequoia Retreat Center near the Santa Cruz Mountains
in Ben Lomond, California
“The redwoods, once seen, leave a mark or create a vision that stays with you always. No one has ever successfully painted or photographed a redwood tree. The feeling they produce is not transferable. From them comes silence and awe. It’s not only their unbelievable stature, nor the color which seems to shift and vary under your eyes, no, they are not like any trees we know, they are ambassadors from another time.” – John Steinbeck
Give yourself a weekend away in nature. Spend time in this sacred space and return to daily life renewed, revitalized and refreshed.
“The history of Sequoia is a history of seasons, beauty, spirit, and truth.”

All Yoga Workshops are suitable for all levels.
Workshop 1: Theory and practice. We will explore the building blocks for a solid foundation to build strength, flexibility, stability, breath awareness and introduction to meditation. (Asana+Discussion)
Workshop 2: Techniques and transitions-standing: Working with sun salutations, standing and balancing poses, we will learn where strength and ease are needed to smooth out the transitions for an elegant and dynamic flow. We will deepen our understanding of vinyasa: Sanskrit-Nyasa denotes “to place” and vi denotes “in a special way“. (Mostly Asana)
Workshop 3: Techniques and transitions-seated: Following the advice from the yoga sutra 2:46-48, Sthira Sukham Asanam (Seated posture should be steady and comfortable), we will work through the challenges and obstacles of finding our comfortable seat and transitions from seated through vinyasa and back to seated. (Mostly Asana)
Workshop 4: Theory and practice. We will continue to explore the building blocks for a solid foundation to build strength, flexibility, stability, breath awareness and stamina with back bends. (Asana+Discussion)

The Sequoia Retreat Center land has been held sacred since 1949 — it is a place where love has been experienced, where pain has been transcended, and where hope has been born. This is a place where the deepest meaning of life may be explored in an atmosphere of quiet and beauty. The current stewards of the Sequoia are Diane and Scott Myers-Lipton. They continue to cultivate the rich history of peace, unity and wellness.
In the fall of 1993, men and women from Armenia and Azerbaijan attended a week-long meeting to explore ways to end their war over Nagorno-Karabakh.
Two years earlier, leading Israelis and Palestinians held a week-long seminar which produced a working document for peace. The Framework for a Public Peace Process: Toward a Peaceful Israeli-Palestinian Relationship, was distributed widely among the negotiating parties.
